Established as early as 1866 as an artillery depot & torpedo workshop, its history continued with the founding of MaK - Maschinen Kiel AG in 1948. With the change of name from Krupp MaK to Caterpillar Motoren GmbH &Co KG in 1997, it became the headquarters for all medium-speed diesel, gas and dual-fuel engines. Since August 2022, the division has been operating successfully as an independent company under the name ProMachining GmbH.
